Jesus the King

Pilate asked Jesus, “You are a king then?” Jesus responded, “It is as you say, but my kingdom is not like the world’s kingdoms”

Jesus the King calls those with heavy burdens.
Come, bring them to me,
My demands are not burdensome.
I am the humble and lowly King.

Jesus the King calls those who are hurt and rejected.
Come and enjoy my company,
My love is not dependant on your behaviour.
I am the compassionate King.

Jesus the King calls those whose journey is weary.
Come, let me bathe your wounds,
My disciples allow me to wash their feet.
I am the servant King.

Jesus the King calls those who are lost and captive by sin.
Come and discover full forgiveness,
My love for you took me to the ultimate sacrifice.
I am the cross-shaped King.

Jesus the King calls those who are in fear of death.
Come and find resurrected life.
I entered the tomb, but broke its bonds.
I am the death defeating King.

Jesus the King calls us into his Kingdom.
Come and reign there with me!
I will return and all people will see me.
I am the glorified and eternal King.
